Brazilian's wonderfully fluid, abstract style inspires....
9th June, 2010
Having produced work for the likes of Microsoft, Nike, Absolut, Sony Ericsson, Coca-Cola and MTV, São Paulo based illustrator, Rubens LP, is clearly in demand – and with his unique, abstract style, it’s clear to see why. Decidedly Brazilian, thanks to it’s colour and vibrancy, Rubens’ style is the perfect accompaniment to summer – and anyone who uses bulldogs in their work is sure to receive high precedence with us…..
illness inducing advert set to roll out throughout Europe....
7th June, 2010
Rolling out across Europe in coming weeks is this, rather difficult to watch, advert for Sony’s new range of 3D TVs – courtesy of Sexy Beast director Jonathan Glazer, he of best pop video ever, ‘Rabbit in Your Headlights‘ fame. The predominantly football focused – isn’t everything at the moment? – advert, stars Kaka and rather boldly challenges the need for a new TV…. what do you think? Does it work?
South Africa collective commissioned for ESPN mural collection....
3rd June, 2010
With more than a nod to national stereotypes, South African illustration, design and animation studio – Am I Collective – have produced a rather tongue-in-cheek set of murals to appear in magazines, web campaigns and billboards across US cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Commissioned by Wieden+Kennedy on behalf of ESPN – whose 2006 coverage came under some criticism – the murals have a typically African feel, no doubt inspired by the famous Ghanaian movie posters, and are actually rather fun…..

'interface artist' delivers cheeky iPad advertising intervention....
2nd June, 2010
The internet is regularly buzzing with dissent surrounding Apple’s worrying control over their App Store and the Apps found within it, Steve Jobs’ deceleration that the iPad will offer “freedom from porn” has sent such concerns into overdrive – not least over at Gawker, where blogger Ryan Tate proclaims that “there’s something absurdly Orwellian about Jobs’ line that the iPad provides “freedom from porn.” It’s a statement I suspect will haunt him.”
One such haunting may well be this ‘ad-busting’ in Berlin’s Mitte district, courtesy of interface artist, Johannes P Osterhoff. Capitalising on the absurdity of Jobs’ comments, Osterhoff booked himself some ad space on the subway at Rosenthaler Platz and demonstrated for all of us just how ludicrous the assumption that the internet’s biggest draw could somehow be eradicated from Apple’s new game changing device……
iconic white bottle receives customisation treatment....
1st June, 2010
You may have seen our recent post on parent website, We Heart, about art collective ‘Pirates’ and their forthcoming Pop-Up Pirates Bar… one of their crew – the super talented Mr. Jimi Crayon – has been busy recently on another project, alongside Pinky Tesfay and MNKY. Namely painting up a storm in Soho and Brixton as part of Malibu’s rather nice ‘Malibu By U’ campaign, in which their iconic white bottle has become… well, more white and iconic – and their inviting the public to go mad with their imagination, much as artists Delta, James Jarvis and So-Me did when the campaign was launched last year at Paris’ ever-cool Colette store (see below)……
Oh – and if you want to bag yourself a bottle along with some other goodies and, of course, some design kudos – we’re offering you the chance to become The Import’s chosen entry in the Malibu By U hall of fame – continue reading for more info….
